Penn State football continues to search for top wide receiver talent. One way Nittany Lions WR coach Marques Hagans can impact the position room in the future is by recruiting players who meet his standards. One of those players includes 2025 recruiting class member Taz Williams Jr., who has set his commitment date to follow his slate of official visits, including his trip to Happy Valley.

Taz Williams Jr. is a four-star wide receiver prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. According to On3, Williams Jr. from Red Oak, Texas, is a top-50 prospect in the state. Nationally, he ranks as the No. 46 WR in the cycle. He has set up an interesting slate of official visits. They started on May 10 when Williams Jr. took a visit to SMU. This past weekend, he wrapped up his official visit to Ohio State.

He has three remaining that start with Texas A&M (June 6), and Penn State (June 14), and he wraps things up with Michigan (June 21). Now, Marshall Levenson of Rivals has reported that Taz Williams Jr. has set his commitment date of July 13. He will choose between SMU, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Penn State.

Penn State to likely miss out on the No. 1 QB in 2026

The odds of landing the top quarterback in any cycle are not very high. But the Penn State football team had a legitimate shot at earning a commitment from Faizon Brandon in the 2026 recruiting class. However, it appears that their chances are running low after an announcement by Steve Wiltfong of On3 on Monday.

Wiltfong provided an expert prediction for Brandon to end up at Tennessee after a strong visit this past weekend. If that ends up being the case, the Nittany Lions will need to push all of their efforts into recruiting Dia Bell, the son of NBA veteran Raja Bell. As the No. 2 QB in the 2026 cycle, Bell is a player who has visited Penn State four times, which is more than any other program.
