The Penn State football team secured the 15th member of the 2025 recruiting class on Monday evening. Defensive back Jahmir Joseph made his pledge to the Nittany Lions. Now, Penn State is closing in on another defensive back in the 2025 recruiting class Brandon Finney of Maryland. The four-star prospect spoke out on social media regarding his commitment timeline where the Nittany Lions could have an additional prospect added to the 2025 cycle.
Brandon Finney is a four-star prospect who ranks as the No. 1 athlete in Maryland according to On3. The Owings Mills, MD native attends McDonogh High School which has produced top talent for the Penn State football team. Finney is listed as an athlete, but projects to be a cornerback at the next level. His 6-2 185-pound frame will certainly make him a force to be reckoned with in college.
Finney will wrap up his final official visit this weekend after he heads to Eugene to visit Oregon. On Tuesday he announced on Twitter/X that he would be making his commitment next week. Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Penn State the highest odds at a 31% chance of securing Finney.
Official visits are a difference maker

One thing we have learned over the past two weeks is that official visits truly matter. Even in an era of college football that is forever changing, an official visit can lead directly to a commitment. Just think of the past two Penn State football 2025 recruiting class commits Daryus Dixson and Jahmir Joseph, who both pledged to the Nittany Lions just days following their official visit to Happy Valley.
While Terry Smith continues to hold a high standard on the recruiting trail, Brandon Finney will follow a slightly different path. Finney took his official visit to Penn State on May 31. That was his third trip to Happy Valley during his recruitment. Since then he has taken official visits to South Carolina, and Ohio State, and will travel to Oregon this weekend. Now, with his commitment timeline coming into focus, Penn State can prepare for a potential addition to the 2025 recruiting class.
