The Penn State football team has been dealing with several staff moves over the past few weeks, with additions and subtractions happening left and right. Recently the Nittany Lions lost defensive analyst Ola Adams to Indiana and have added Bill Queisert as an offensive analyst. But earlier today James Franklin had to deal with a significant loss to his recruiting staff as Khalil Ahmad is reportedly leaving State College to pursue a similar role at Syracuse University.
Penn State football loses major recruiting resource to ACC school
It was first reported by Matt Zenitz a National College football reporter for 247sports that the Penn State football recruiting coordinator Khalil Ahmad has taken a new role with Syracuse. He will serve as the executive director of personnel and recruiting with the Orange next season.
He joined the Penn State staff in late January; however, Ahmad spent time at Syracuse before his time at Penn State which explains the desire to return. Emily Leiker of Syracuse.com discussed why Ahmad would be interested in joining newly hired head coach Fran Brown’s staff. Leiker wrote, “Prior to Syracuse, Ahmad spent a year at Rutgers, when he overlapped with Brown, who was the Scarlet Knights’ defensive backs coach at the time.”
During his time with the Penn State football team, Khalil Ahmad helped James Franklin assemble a top-15 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle. Franklin will now work on replacing another valuable asset for the Nittany Lions.
