It doesn’t take long for everyone to write you off as a college football player, especially if you lose a few games. But the amount of people who dislike or disrespect Penn State football QB Drew Allar is beyond that. In today’s society with social media, it’s easy to join in on an opinion. That’s typically what’s seen about Allar; he “just isn’t good.” However, one college football analyst from PFF believes that the Nittany Lion QB is the most disrespected in college football.

Drew Allar ranks as the most disrespected QB in college football

In 2022 Drew Allar was a true freshman and joined the Penn State football team as a five-star recruit. With that high ranking and his status as the No. 1 QB in the 2022 recruiting class, the expectations for Allar were at an all-time high. He showed flashes of potential greatness in the games he played in 2022. Some fans even wanted Allar to start over Sean Clifford at various points of the season.

But in 2023 Allar got his chance to be the starter. But by the way, general college football fans and specific media outlets speak about him, one might think he had a terrible season statistically. Last season the sophomore quarterback threw for 2631 yards to pair with 25 touchdown passes and two interceptions. He also led the Nittany Lions to a 10-3 record and an appearance in a New Year’s Six Bowl.

All of the commentary surrounding Allar this offseason, led Max Chadwick of PFF to share his opinion on the former five-star quarterback. The PFF analyst stated, “Drew Allar might be the most disrespected quarterback in college football.”

Allar was made the punchline by one analyst after the Blue-White Game

If you can spin a narrative a certain way without context, this can lead to the wrong perception. Following the Blue-White Game this past April a video went viral posted by Travis May of A to Z Sports. May took the time to chop up every missed throw from Allar during the scrimmage in April. He said that this was “tough to watch.”

But for those who were not in State College, PA that day, would they have known about the outrageously gusty winds? Or the fact that his No.1 wide receiver from the previous year KeAndre Lambert-Smith was not with the team that day, ahead of his decision to enter the transfer portal? The answer for those outside of the Penn State community is likely no.

So, as many will continue to pick on Allar and state that he “isn’t good” because he lost to Ohio State, Michigan, and Ole Miss last season; others will continue to believe in him. It sure would be sweet to see many of these people with strong negative opinions eat their words this fall.
