There was a time when Penn State football looked to have a solid rotation at quarterback. With Sean Clifford as the starter and Will Levis as his backup. During the 2019 season, Will Levis became a rising star in the program after leading the Nittany Lions to a comeback that fell short at Ohio State. He also started a game late in the season against Rutgers and played well. Unfortunately, his career at Penn State never unfolded and he entered the transfer portal. That decision worked out well for Levis and he was selected in the 2nd round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Now, the former Penn State quarterback is set to make his first career NFL start this Sunday.
Former Penn State football quarterback set to make his NFL debut
It was first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network that the Tennessee Titans will prepare to start rookie quarterback Will Levis on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. This game will serve as his NFL regular season debut and will also be his first NFL start. Levis will likely split time with 2022 NFL Draft pick Malik Willis on Sunday as well.
Will Levis is filling in for an injured Ryan Tannehill who injured his ankle two weeks ago against the Baltimore Ravens and will likely be out this weekend. The former Penn State football QB will finally get his much anticipated NFL start, and the Titans are hopeful that Levis will become their franchise starter of the future.
Will Levis’s long journey to the NFL
Levis was a 3-star prospect in the 2018 recruiting class for Penn State. He was with the Nittany Lions from 2018-2020 before transferring to Kentucky. His NFL potential went through the roof after a viral video of him throwing the football during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Will Levis took a risk leaving Penn State that paid off for him in a big way, it’s great to see him finally get his chance at the next level.
