Throughout June, Penn State football has made recruiting news with the players that have joined the class of 2024. But this week, several of the Nittany Lions’ existing recruits have taken center stage. In Thursday’s most recent recruiting rankings update, Penn State commit Luke Reynolds experienced a significant jump into 247Sports’ top 50 prospects. The move culminates Reynolds’ rapid rise of over 950 spots (you read that right) since the start of May.
Penn State 2024 commit Luke Reynolds now a top 50 player in updated 247Sports recruiting rankings
On Thursday, 247Sports released its updated recruiting rankings following the June camp circuit. While several future Nittany Lions received notable bumps, the most significant is that of Cheshire Academy (Connecticut) tight end Luke Reynolds. The Penn State commit now ranks as the No. 49 overall player in the country for the 2024 cycle, the third-best tight end in the class, and the top player out of Connecticut, according to 247Sports.
Luke Reynolds has experienced an extremely quick rise in the Top247 rankings over the last seven weeks. On May 11, 247Sports ranked Reynolds as the No. 1,000 prospect in its class of 2024 ratings. Just 11 days later, Reynolds had jumped inside the top 100 recruits, and is now ranked as a top 50 player.
“Honored to be moved into the Top 50 nationally, and to the number 3 TE in the class!” Reynolds said on Twitter Thursday after the updated rankings were released.
Reynolds committed to Penn State football in late March. The Penn State commit garnered national attention earlier this month, claiming an MVP spot at All 22, the positional player component of the Elite 11 camp.
Another Penn State commit, quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, also saw a significant jump in the latest 247Sports recruiting rankings. Grunkmeyer is now the No. 200 overall player in the nation, up almost 400 spots from his previous ranking. He also elevated from three to four-star status, a major boost for the up-and-coming Nittany Lion recruit.
