The Penn State football team has added another wide receiver commitment to the 2026 recruiting class as Lavar Keys made his commitment on Friday. The Maryland native is coming off of a strong visit this past weekend, where the Nittany Lions extended a scholarship offer to the rising prospect.

According to On3, Lavar Keys is a three-star wide receiver prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. On3 is the only recruiting site that has ranked Keys at this time. They regard him as the No. 9 player in Maryland and the No. 102 WR in the cycle.

Keys holds offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, and has recently earned a scholarship from Penn State. That scholarship offer was given to him after his most recent visit to Happy Valley on July 27. On Friday, he decided to make his commitment to the Nittany Lions.

Following his scholarship offer from Penn State football, Keys expressed how special the moment was to Blue White Illustrated.

“I was very excited. Penn State has been my dream school for years, especially since I’m named after LaVar Arrington. That’s just a blessing. Being able to be offered by Penn State was just amazing.”

Now, Keys will be able to attend his dream school and team up with fellow wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers, Troy Huhn, Messiah Mickens, and Kevin Brown as the offensive commits in the 2026 recruiting class. Currently, On3 ranks the 2026 class as the No. 2 overall group in the country.
