Wrestling season is over three months away, but there’s still plenty of action taking place around Happy Valley. On the mats, Penn State wrestling is preparing to send competitors to a series of World Championship events in the coming weeks. On the recruiting trail, Cael Sanderson is already working to build the Nittany Lions’ 2027 class.
This week, Sanderson and assistant coach Cody Sanderson visited the home of Norwin (PA) standout Landon Sidun. A top target for the Nittany Lions and the nation’s other elite programs, Sidun is the No. 2 wrestler in 2027, according to FloWrestling.
In July, Sidun included Penn State on his list of 12 finalist schools. Iowa, Ohio State, Nebraska, and Minnesota were the other Big Ten programs to make his list.
“I’m not going to rush it,” Sidun said on the Locked on Lions podcast recently. “But let’s just say I meet with everyone, and I’ll commit when I know where I need to be. I’ll sit down with my family, think about pros and cons, and that’s when I’ll make my decision.”
Penn State is also in the hunt for the 2027 cycle’s top recruit, Melvin Miller, who included the Nittany Lions in his top nine earlier this summer.
