A new report has uncovered potentially serious allegations of misconduct levied against former Penn State wrestling star Carter Starocci.

The report, published by Evan Smith of The Daily Collegian, accuses the five-time national champion of sexual misconduct and property theft. Several of the accusations in the report occurred within the Nittany Lions’ Lorenzo Wrestling Complex. With the exception of ex-teammate Beau Bartlett, the accusers spoke to The Daily Collegian on the condition of anonymity.

You can read the full details of the allegations in the original story here.

The accusations in the report stem from an incident surrounding Starocci and Bartlett. Recently, the former Nittany Lions 141-pounder and his wife, Sydney Bartlett, released statements online alluding to an issue with a specific teammate, which was later revealed to be Starocci.

The Collegian explains that the Bartletts were made aware of several situations in which Starocci was accused of sexually assaulting female students at Penn State. After bringing the accusations to Starocci’s girlfriend, Bartlett claims over $1,000 of property was stolen from his locker in the Penn State wrestling facility last December, which he believed to be a retaliation from the 184-pounder. Bartlett told The Collegian that other Nittany Lion teammates believed that Starocci had also stolen from their lockers in the past.

Since going public with his allegations several weeks ago, Bartlett also claims that former teammates have come forward to him with examples of physical and sexual misconduct by Starocci against them occurring within the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex.

Bartlett’s allegations of theft were taken to university police. The investigation was closed after six months when the police were unable to secure an admission of guilt from Starocci. The incident was referred to student conduct, which finished its investigation earlier this month, per The Collegian.

As of Thursday, Bartlett’s incident is the only case that has publicly pursued a legal resolution. Bartlett claims that Cael Sanderson and other members of the Penn State wrestling coaching staff were aware of his allegations before he took them to the police. He further claims that coaches informed him Starocci would not sign with the NLWC after he completed his training for Final X earlier in June due to “character issues.”

This month, Bartlett moved on from Penn State, signing with the New York City Regional Training Center to pursue his international wrestling ambitions. In May, Starocci fell to Kyle Dake at the U.S. World Team Trials in Louisville, Kentucky.

We will continue to update this story as more details come out.
