Ex-Penn State wrestler announces transfer portal decision

Former Nittany Lion Jack Kelly thanked Cael Sanderson and the Penn State wrestling program while announcing his future plans.

The Penn State wrestling season is still six months away, but we now know where one former Nittany Lion plans to compete next year. On Wednesday, Jack Kelly announced that he will be wrestling for George Mason in 2025.

Kelly revealed the transfer decision via Instagram. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Spending four years in Happy Valley, Kelly finishes his Penn State wrestling career with a 12-9 official record plus a 9-8 record as an unattached wrestler during his redshirt season. He held a career 35.80% bonus. Kelly primarily wrestled at 174 pounds but also spent time at 184.

The senior made sure to give credit to the Nittany Lions coaching staff and his teammates during his transfer announcement.

“Extremely grateful for these past four years at Penn State,he wrote.I will forever cherish my time in State College and I want to personally thank my coaches, Cael and Cody Sanderson, Casey Cunningham, and Nick Lee. I also want to thank all of my friends and teammates who have made my time at Penn State special.”
