Yet another prominent Nittany Lion wrestler is moving from State College to Stillwater. Former Penn State wrestling standout and 2024 Olympian Roman Bravo-Young is set to join David Taylor and Oklahoma State as a member of the Cowboy Regional Training Center.

Bravo-Young announced he was joining the Cowboy RTC via social media late Saturday night, simply stating, “Something new,” on X.

While the two-time National Champion didn’t specify his role, it’s likely that the 25-year-old wrestler is joining the Cowboy RTC in a competitive capacity.

“One of the priorities for new Oklahoma State head coach David Taylor moving forward was going to be their RTC,” Justin Basch, host of the Baschamania podcast, wrote on X Friday. “And now, it looks like they’ve got their first big name on the senior level coming in. Will be a great fit! Should be finalized shortly and announced soon.”

Roman Bravo-Young was one of three Penn State wrestling alumni and five NLWC members participating in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Representing Mexico at 57 kg, Bravo-Young lost his first match to Armenia’s Arsen Harutyunyan 13-3. Harutyunyan subsequently lost his quarterfinal matchup, which eliminated the former Nittany Lion from medal competition.

Roman Bravo-Young is the latest in a growing list of members from the Penn State wrestling inner circle to join David Taylor.

One of Taylor’s first moves after taking over as Oklahoma State head coach in May was to add his brother-in-law and former Nittany Lions assistant Jimmy Kennedy to the Cowboys staff. Cael Sanderson quickly filled Kennedy’s role with Penn State’s first five-time All-American wrestler, Nick Lee.

Taylor also tapped former Nittany Lion teammate Bryan Pearsall to serve as the program’s recruiting coordinator. Pearsall, a member of the 2011-2013 NCAA Championship teams, most recently served as associate head coach at the University of Pennsylvania.

Adjacent to the Penn State wrestling program, David Taylor added former NLWC wrestler Thomas Gilman to his Oklahoma State staff, as well. Finishing as a 2016 NCAA Runner-Up wrestling for Iowa, Gilman won the Bronze Medal at the 2020 Olympics. Gilman will serve as an assistant coach for the Cowboys.
