The recruiting trail continues to be blazed by Penn State football coaching staff members. As the Nittany Lions look to continue to stack talent in the 2025 recruiting class. On Tuesday, Penn State fans received the news that 2026 QB Troy Huhn has made his commitment official. But there’s an expectation that more recruits are on the way. Insiders now believe that 2025 ATH Brandon Finney is expected to make his pledge to Penn State.

Brandon Finney is a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class. He attends McDonogh School where he is currently teammates with wide receiver Jeff Exinor, a Penn State football target who is also trending towards ending up in Happy Valley. On Tuesday morning two FutureCasts were placed by Rivals insiders Dylan Callaghan-Croley and Marty Leap. They both predict that Finney will make his pledge to play for Penn State soon.

Finney is from Owing Mills (Maryland) and currently ranks as the No. 1 athlete in the state. He plays both cornerback and wide receiver but projects to be a defensive back at the next level. If that is the case then Terry Smith will have added Daryus Dixson, Jahmir Joseph, Antonio Branch, and Brandon Finney to the secondary in a matter of weeks.

On3 ranks Finney as the No. 4 prospect in Maryland and the No. 5 athlete in the country (No. 131 nationally). The Nittany Lions currently have the No. 13 overall class in 2025 according to On3.

The Nittany Lion faithful were able to put their minds at ease on Tuesday morning. Troy Huhn of San Marcos (California) made his commitment official. On3 ranks Huhn as the No. 6 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class and he is a top-100 prospect in the cycle (No. 60 overall).

It is a constant search to find an elite quarterback prospect in each cycle. Penn State had Matt Zollers on its radar for 2025 until he decided to make his commitment to Missouri. Then, it appeared that Dia Bell would be the quarterback of the future for Penn State until he made his decision to commit to Texas.

At the end of the day, everyone has landed where they are supposed to be. James Franklin has found a quarterback that fits the system in Happy Valley and they look to stack more talent in the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes.
