The Penn State football team continues to search for the next commitment in the 2025 recruiting class. After a productive June that landed the Nittany Lions with eight commitments (nine overall), Penn State can be selective with the remaining additions. However, it appears that they are now on the outside looking in for wide receiver Koby Howard, who has received a prediction to land at Ole Miss on Tuesday.

Koby Howard is a four-star wide receiver from Davie (Florida). He took his official visit with the Nittany Lions on June 21, serving as his lone trip to Happy Valley in his recruitment. Howard also took an official visit to Ole Miss on June 14 and has one upcoming to Florida on November 11.

On3 ranks Howard as the No. 52 prospect in the Sunshine State and the No. 60 WR in the 2025 recruiting class (No. 382 nationally). On Tuesday, Howard received a new RPM from Zach Berry, a senior analyst for On3. He still holds an RPM from Michael Langston from May 9, which predicts that he will land in Florida. While Howard has not set a commitment date, the Nittany Lions might be on the outside looking in for another wide receiver.

While the Penn State football team was named one of the biggest recruiting winners of June by On3, they have missed on two key prospects as of late.

On Friday, top Maryland wide receiver Jeff Exinor pledged to the Nittany Lions, becoming Penn State’s second receiver commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

But then on Sunday, Missouri pass catcher Corey Simms picked USC over Penn State and the in-state Tigers. From Saint Louis, Simms ranks as the No. 2 wide receiver in the state, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Simms is regarded as the No. 3 prospect in Missouri and the No. 45 WR (No. 293 nationally).

The next day it was Matthew Outten, who chose Virginia Tech and Brent Pry over Penn State and James Franklin. A native of Portsmouth (Virginia), Outten ranks as the No. 6 player in the state and the No. 5 athlete in the 2025 recruiting class (No. 139 nationally) according to 247Sports.

With Koby Howard trending away from Happy Valley, the Nittany Lions will need to focus on Taz Williams and Lex Cyrus for additional wide receiver talent this cycle.
