Veteran Nittany Lions offensive lineman JB Nelson will enter the transfer portal after leaving the Penn State football program last week.

According to a report from Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, the sixth-year senior plans to submit his paperwork to enter the portal later on Monday. Nelson’s move was expected after he left the Nittany Lions program last Thursday.

Nelson started eight games during the 2023 season. He made 31 total appearances in his Penn State football career after transferring from Lackawanna Community College in 2022. This spring, he was in a competition sophomore Cooper Cousins for the starting left guard position after Vega Ioane shifted to the right side to replace the departing Sal Wormley.

The spring transfer portal window officially opens on Wednesday. The portal will be open for 10 days until April 25, the day before the Blue-White Game.
