Penn State football will be down one veteran defender when it takes on Washington on Saturday night. Redshirt senior defensive tackle Hakeem Beamon has left the Nittany Lions program, according to new reports Friday night.

The news was first confirmed by Sean Fitz of Blue White Illustrated. Beamon was not accounted for during the open portion of practice on Wednesday evening.

Appearing in all eight games this season, Beamon had seen his role drop considerably since the start of the year. The 6-3, 296-pound lineman hasn’t recorded a tackle since September 28 against Illinois. He will finish the 2024 season with three total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Beamon’s Penn State football career will end with 40 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and one sack over 45 games played.

A former four-star prospect, Hakeem Beamon was the fourth-ranked player out of Virginia in the class of 2019, according to 247Sports.

Penn State football and Washington will kick off Saturday night at 8 p.m. on Peacock.
