The Penn State football team will head into bigger matchups as the season progresses. Two matchups appear to be 50/50 coin flips right now for the Nittany Lions including traveling to USC on October 12 and hosting Ohio State on November 2. Now, the matchup against Ohio State has become even more important as Savion Hiter of the 2026 recruiting class will be visiting that weekend.

Savion Hiter is a four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Hiter is the No. 1 player in Virginia and the No. 2 running back in the cycle (No. 29 overall). The Mineral (Virginia) native has some of the top schools in the country recruiting him, including Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Penn State, among others.

On Tuesday evening, Steve Wiltfong of On3 shared that Hiter has locked in several game visits. Including a trip to Happy Valley on November 2 the same weekend the Nittany Lions will host Ohio State. Hiter has taken one visit to Penn State which came in March of 2023.

Hiter has already narrowed his list of schools down to five

The Nittany Lions are already in a great position with Savion Hiter. On August 22, Hayes Fawcett of On3 broke the news that Hiter has narrowed his college choices down to five schools. He included Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia, Ohio State, and Penn State football on that list.

Penn State already has a star running back committed to the 2026 recruiting class in Messiah Mickens. But two is always better than one, especially in the backfield. Look at the current roster and how much Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen have had a thunder and lightning-type impact on the field. Could Hiter and Mickens be the future of Penn State?
