While everyone is excited about the 2024 season that is unfolding for Penn State football, the hype surrounding the 2025 recruiting class is gaining more momentum. One of the biggest names committed to the Nittany Lions in the 2025 cycle is LaVar Arrington II the son of LBU icon LaVar Arrington. He has just seen a recruiting ranking boost showing his growth on the field during his senior season.

As early National Signing Day quickly approaches, the Penn State football team is working on putting its finishing touches on the cycle. But at the same time, current commits are proving their worth on the field during their senior season. One of those players who has impressed national scouts with his on-field play this fall is LaVar Arrington II.

The 2025 recruiting class committee for the Nittany Lions currently attends Charter Oak High School in Covina (California). He committed to James Franklin and Penn State on July 4 and was a three-star prospect at the time. But on Friday Arrington II received a recruiting boost from 247Sports.

He is now a four-star linebacker prospect who ranks as the No. 23 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class he is also listed as the No. 27 player in California according to 247Sports.

LaVar Arrington II is coached by Dom Farar at Charter Oak High School. This summer he shared his impressions on the son of the LBU icon and what position fits him the best.

“I’ve never seen an athlete in over 30 years be able to do what he does on the football field, especially on the defensive side of the field. Honestly, if we chose to, he’s a kid that could play every position on the field.”

Penn State currently holds the No. 17 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle according to On3 with 24 hard commits.
