It’s been seven years since Saquon Barkley suited up with the Penn State football team. But that hasn’t stopped the former Nittany Lion from remembering those days. He was recently reminded even more by his new team, the Philadelphia Eagles who hosted an open practice. During the event fans showed up and supported the team which reminded Barkley of his days in Happy Valley.

On March 11 the then shocking news was revealed that Saquon Barkley would be returning home to play football again in Pennsylvania for the Philadephia Eagles. The former Penn State football star has spent his entire pro career with the New York Giants, but this fall he will be paired in the backfield with Jalen Hurts, as he works to earn his first Super Bowl Championship.

After a recent open practice, Barkley discussed how the Philadelphia Eagles fans reminded him of his time with Penn State.

“I already knew how much love this city had for not only this team but all of the teams around here,” Barkley told the Philadephia media. For a practice to have 50,000 fans is truly insane. So, thank you to all of the fans who showed love and support…

“You kind of get that college feel again. When I was in college, you didn’t want anyone to come into Beaver Stadium and get a win there, you get that feeling here. You know how much it means when we play in the Linc.”

Saquon Barkley is a generational talent and now he will run behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Last season with the Giants he accounted for 962 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Now, that he has returned to Pennsylvania he has been treated with a lot of love and respect he said on Monday.

“I got a lot of love. Which I’ve kind of seen on social media and the fans that I have met but right there when I was running out seeing how the fans and the crowd reacted. Not only to me running out but to everyone running out and when they announced the guys. I’m telling you, it’s like college. You ask anybody, the NFL is on a whole other level, but in stadiums and environments you never really get that college feeling, but you get that here..”
