Penn State football will be battling for Big Ten Championship contention and potentially a College Football Playoff spot when the Nittany Lions host the Ohio State Buckeyes next weekend. But the November 2 matchup could now also play a pivotal role in electoral politics, as reports Thursday indicate that former President and current Republican candidate Donald Trump may be in attendance.

“Donald Trump’s team is making plans for the former president to attend the Ohio State-Penn State game on Nov. 2 in State College,” Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports wrote on X Thursday afternoon. “If the schedule is finalized, he’d be appearing in a swing state three days before Election Day. Trump attended the UGA-Bama game earlier this year.”

Pennsylvania is a key battleground state between Trump and Democratic nominee and current Vice President Kamala Harris. In addition to the Georgia and Alabama game earlier this season, Trump also took in some action in the Keystone State last weekend, attending the NFL’s Sunday Night Football matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets.

Even if the former president doesn’t ultimately make it to see the No. 3 Nittany Lions and No. 4 Buckeyes face off next weekend, he will get to Happy Valley before Election Day. Trump is scheduled to appear at the Bryce Jordan Center on Saturday.

Announced on Monday, Penn State football and Ohio State will kick off at noon on FOX. ESPN currently gives the Buckeyes a 68.6% chance of winning the game.

But before what will undoubtedly be a high-stakes week kicks off in central Pennsylvania, James Franklin and the Nittany Lions must first travel to Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers. Kickoff is set for Saturday night at 7:30 on NBC.
