Finding four different college homes in your college football career is a challenge but it isn’t impossible. For former Penn State football quarterback Micah Bowens, it has become his reality. The 2020 recruiting class member and dual-threat talent spent one year with the Nittany Lions. He has also made stops at Oklahoma, Charlotte, and now he has announced he will transfer to Bethune-Cookman University.
Micah Bowens was a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. From Las Vegas, Nevada, Bowens ranked as the No. 4 player in the state coming out of high school according to 247Sports. He made his commitment to James Franklin and the Penn State football team on February 19, 2019. He spent the 2020 season with the Nittany Lions where he redshirted before making his first appearance in the transfer portal.
It did not take Bowens long to find a new home. He entered the transfer portal on January 15 and made his commitment to Oklahoma just three days later. He spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons at Oklahoma where he did not see the field. He then re-entered the transfer portal and made his commitment to Charlotte which served as Bowens’ home for the 2023 season. With the 49ers he appeared in one game and was sacked for a 13-yard loss in his lone appearance.
Bowens has now found his fourth home he announced on Twitter /X on Tuesday. He will transfer to Bethune-Cookman of the SWAC in the FCS. Located in Daytona Beach, Florida, Bowens will have the opportunity to seek much-needed playing time.
Reviewing the 2020 recruiting class for Penn State
The 2020 recruiting class for the Nittany Lions had an up-and-down impact on the program. Those players arguably faced the most adversity during their transition to college during the pandemic. The class included star talent such as Olu Fashanu, Theo Johnson, Parker Washington, Ji’Ayir Bown, and Curtis Jacobs.
In the 2020 cycle, there are still several current contributors to the program as well. Tyler Elsdon, Amin Vanover, Coziah Izzard, Tyler Warren, and Zuriah Fisher. But of course, several prospects have left the program via the transfer portal. Including KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Keyvone Lee, Caziah Holmes, Malick Meiga, and Micah Bowens who has recently announced his transfer decision to Bethune-Cookman.
Overall the 2020 recruiting certainly left its mark on Happy Valley with some contributors looking to put the finishing touches on their Penn State career this fall.
