Penn State football is expected to have standout running back Nicholas Singleton available for Saturday afternoon’s contest with Purdue.
The Nittany Lions released Singleton’s status as part of the program’s weekly availability report, which the Big Ten mandates before kickoff each week. On Wednesday, James Franklin expressed optimism that the junior running back would be cleared to play.
“Confident he’ll be ready to go,” he said. “But as you guys know, medical decisions are out of my league. But, we’re confident that he’ll be ready to go.”
Battling injuries through much of this season, Singleton has 422 all-purpose yards and two receiving touchdowns since the start of October.
“I think it’s been important for us to get Nick involved in the passing game, in maybe the nontraditional running back routes and other ways that makes it more difficult to defend,” Franklin said. “I think it’s going to help him long-term in his career, as well.”
