The competition is heating up for one of the top uncommitted targets in the transfer portal. Days after his visit with Penn State football, former Syracuse wide receiver Trebor Pena is set to take multiple visits with Big Ten and ACC programs this week, according to new reports on Tuesday.
First reported by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Pena will head to the West Coast to visit Big Ten newcomers USC and UCLA. He’ll also visit Miami, one of the reported early contenders for his commitment.
Pena entered the transfer portal last Tuesday and quickly set up a visit with the Nittany Lions for the weekend. Penn State was widely viewed as the frontrunner for his commitment in the days following the visit.
The ex-Orange standout led the ACC with 84 receptions in 2024. He is currently the No. 2 uncommitted wide receiver in the transfer portal behind Texas A&M’s Micah Hudson.

Penn State football landed transfer receivers Kyron Hudson and Devonte Ross during the winter portal window in January. The Nittany Lions currently have 15 receivers on the roster.
“We need some of these young guys that have been in the program, kind of like talking about at quarterback, to take the next step, and we think they will,” James Franklin said of the position last week. “I think the two transfer portal guys have come in here and increased the competition across the board for different reasons and in different ways. Hudson, obviously, has played at this level and been productive, and that has shown up. Very mature guy. He’s a very physical player. Tremendous ball skills. And Ross hasn’t been at this level, so his improvement since he’s been on campus with all the resources has been dramatic.
“But he’s also shown that he can make big plays against this level of competition. So I think it’s been really good for the room. Nobody’s promised anything, but it’s raised the level of competition in the room. But we still need some of those guys who were already on the roster to take the next step, and we’ve seen flashes of that this spring.”
