Penn State football hosted one of the nation’s top prospects this weekend in five-star Georgetown Prep (MD) offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho. Perhaps the Nittany Lions’ best opportunity to make inroads before his decision later this summer, Iheanacho is leaving Happy Valley with a renewed impression of James Franklin’s program.
“I feel good about them and this visit really helped Penn State a lot,” Iheanacho told On3’s Chad Simmons on Sunday. The five-star lineman went on to say that the Nittany Lions are now competing with Oregon and LSU for his commitment.
This weekend’s visit was Iheanacho’s fourth to State College during his recruitment. With Oregon widely viewed as the frontrunner for a commitment, Franklin and his staff used this official visit to make their case before the Baltimore product travels to Eugene next weekend.
“[We are] building a special class at Penn [State] and I want you to be a part of [it],” Franklin wrote to Iheanacho in his welcome package on Thursday. “Let’s make history together.”
Coming out of the weekend, Iheanacho announced his plans to return to Happy Valley for the September 27 White Out against Oregon.
Iheanacho is the No. 3 prospect in the 2026 recruiting cycle per the On3 Industry Rankings. He will announce his commitment on August 5.
