A new Penn State football season is almost upon us, and the Nittany Lions are breaking in a facility upgrade inside the Lasch Building just in time for the 2024 season.

Last week, Penn State football unveiled its updated training table. In a video starring true freshman offensive lineman Cooper Cousins, the Nittany Lions showed off some of the “new and improved” features of the Lasch Building:

Following its public rollout last week, members of the Penn State coaching staff were quick to tout the facility upgrade online.

“Love our new training table facility!” co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Ty Howle wrote on X. “Elite food for our [Penn State football] student-athletes! Fuels them for elite performance! Hats off to the training table and nutrition staff!”

“The new [chefs] and new training table is a game changer!” commented assistant head coach/running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider. “Never going out to eat again!!”

Extreme makeover, Penn State edition

Penn State is also renovating the Greenberg Indoor Sports Complex to become a training table and wellness center for all 31 Nittany Lion varsity athletic programs. Originally budgeted at $31.9 million, the project is set for completion in August 2025.

The most prominent upgrade taking place around campus is the $700 million renovation of Beaver Stadium. The Board of Trustees approved $70 million for the first phase of the facility upgrade in May 2023. Winterization in the event of a December College Football Playoff game, as well as other updates to the stadium exterior, concourses, concessions, and restrooms, began this offseason.

Other projects in the works in Happy Valley include a $21.25 million overhaul of Jeffrey Field for the men’s and women’s soccer programs, a $5.2 million renovation of the East Area Locker Room for the 16 programs utilizing the space, and the construction of a $9.4 million indoor practice bubble for Olympic sports athletes.
