We now know the full details of Penn State football’s return to Beaver Stadium for the 2024 season. Announced on Thursday, the Nittany Lions‘ week two matchup against Bowling Green will take place at noon on the Big Ten Network. The game is one in a series of Penn State football kickoff details announced Thursday.

Details for Penn State football home opener vs. Bowling Green announced

Penn State’s September 7 contest with the Bowling Green Falcons will air on the Big Ten Network at noon, the Big Ten announced on Thursday. The week two game is the home opener for the Nittany Lions, with Penn State football traveling to Morgantown to take on West Virginia in week one.

The Nittany Lions have a short history with Bowling Green, only playing two matchups since 1987. Penn State football won that 1987 game 45-19, followed by a 45-3 victory in 1998. Both tilts were played in Beaver Stadium.

Bowling Green is coming off a 7-6 record in 2023 with fifth-year head coach Scot Loeffler. The Falcons played two Big Ten programs last year, losing to Michigan 31-6 in week 3 and Minnesota 30-24 in the Quick Lane Bowl.

Thursday’s home opener announcement is one of several kickoff times for Penn State football we received this week. Brett McMurphy reported Thursday morning that the Nittany Lions’ season opener at West Virginia is slated for FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff. An official announcement confirmed the report later in the day.

The Big Ten is releasing kickoff times for weeks one through three on Thursday. However, Penn State has its first of two byes on September 14. We also found out that the Nittany Lions’ September 28 game versus Illinois will be at either 3:30, 4:00, or 7:00 p.m., and its October 26 road trip to Wisconsin will be at either noon, 3:30, or 7:30 p.m. Neither game has TV networks announced yet.
