The Scarlet and Gray are making a play for the Nittany Lions’ top committed prospect in 2027. On Tuesday, Ryan Day and Ohio State became the latest program to offer McKeesport (PA) running back and Penn State football pledge Kemon Spell.
Spell shared news of the offer on social media Tuesday afternoon. The Buckeyes are the 16th team to offer the rising high school junior.
Spell shut down his recruitment and reaffirmed his commitment to Penn State football in March. The move came after Notre Dame, under ex-Nittany Lions running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider, made a heavy push to flip his decision.
Last week, Spell was made a five-star recruit by 247Sports. He is the consensus top prospect in Pennsylvania in 2027 and the No. 1 running back in the class according to 247Sports and On3.
James Franklin and the Nittany Lions currently have the No. 2 class in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
