The Penn State football team missed its top quarterback target in the 2025 recruiting class. Pennsylvania’s very own Matt Zollers chose to play for Missouri over the Nittany Lions. However, Penn State will have Bekkem Kritza as part of the 2025 recruiting class. But now James Franklin and his coaching staff have shifted the focus to the 2026 recruiting class for their future QB. Where Dia Bell continues to be a top priority, he recently explained why he would be a great fit in Happy Valley.

Dia Bell has visited Penn State three times during his recruiting journey. This matches the same number of visits that he has taken to Ohio State. The 2026 recruiting class member from Fort Lauderdale, Florida is regarded as one of the nation’s top QB prospects.

On3 lists Bell as the No. 2 QB in the 2026 cycle and the No. 1 player in Florida. He also holds a top 15 ranking nationally in his class. Recently, Bell connected with Steve Wiltfong of On3 to discuss the relationships he has built during his recruitment.

“Penn State is an excellent program with an incredible history. Beaver Stadium is one of the best atmospheres in college football and they have an incredible fan base! I am very excited about their new offense! I’ve been able to develop a great relationship with Coach Franklin, Coach Kotelnicki, and Coach O’Brien. I think that I’d be a good fit in what they do offensively because I can play on time and on schedule, but I can create when I need to as well.”

Bell is set to return to Happy Valley this weekend for his fourth visit to Penn State. He confirmed this on Twitter/X on Friday.

Penn State fans cannot forget about Bekkem Kritza

While missing out on Matt Zollers stung this spring, Penn State football has an up-and-coming gunslinger in the 2025 recruiting class. Bekkem Kritza is certainly not Penn State’s backup plan. He committed to the Nittany Lions on November 14th, 2023.

He recently attended a Rivals Camp in Miami which had scouts turning their heads. His raw arm talent should excite Penn State fans once he joins the team. He will spend this fall at Miami Central where he will join fellow Nittany Lion and running back commit Keandrea Barker. But Kritza has an interesting path of development ahead.
