For several weeks, Penn State football fans have been waiting for 2025 recruiting class member Lex Cyrus to announce his commitment date. The Nittany Lions need to fill out the wide receiver room in the cycle and Cyrus could be a big part of their future. Now, the No. 1 WR in PA has set his commitment date for later this week where he will choose between Penn State and South Carolina.
Lex Cyrus is a blue-chip prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. From Harrisburg (Pennsylvania) he has taken seven visits to Happy Valley during his recruitment. Including an official visit on May 31, the only other school he has visited more than once is South Carolina. The Gamecocks and the Nittany Lions will battle for Cyrus’s commitment on Thursday, July 11 at 3 pm EST.
This is a prospect that has been trending in favor of Penn State for quite some time now. The initial crystal ball was placed by Brian Dohn of 247Sports back on February 22. Then, Ryan Snyder of On3 placed an RPM in favor of Penn State landing Cyrus on June 6. Most recently, Ed OBrien of 247Sports placed his own crystal ball for the Nittany Lions to land Cyrus on June 24.
The four-star prospect ranks as the No. 1 WR in PA according to On3. Cyrus is the No. 5 player in the state and the No. 16 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle (No. 109 nationally.) Now, with a commitment date set, Penn State fans will have to keep an eye on his decision on Thursday.
