Penn State football has waited several weeks for one of the top remaining in-state targets. Now, 2025 recruiting class member and No. 1 tight end in PA Andrew Olesh has set his commitment date. With 21 hard commitments to date in the cycle the Nittany Lions currently have two tight end commits in Brady O’Hara and Matt Henderson. Will Olesh become the third or will he choose to leave the Keystone State?
Andrew Olesh is a consensus four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. Throughout his high school football career at Southern Lehigh (Pennsylvania), Olesh has played wide receiver. However, he projects to play tight end in college. That’s largely due to frame and size. Standing at 6-5 215 pounds, he hauled in 53 catches for 972 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023.
On Monday, July 8 at 6 pm EST Olesh will make his commitment official, he announced on Twitter / X on Sunday. Olesh will choose between Florida, Alabama, Michigan, and Penn State. Those are the four schools he took official visits with. He started with Alabama on May 31, then followed up with visits to Flordia (June 7), Penn State (June 14), and Michigan on June 21.
According to On3, Olesh is the No. 4 player in Pennsylvania, the No. 3 tight end in the country (No. 78 nationally), and ranks as the No. 1 tight end in PA.

While the Nittany Lions have suffered setbacks on the recruiting trail, a trend that has been common for the 2025 recruiting class is losing some of the top talent in the Keystone State. Three of the top four players in the state are currently committed elsewhere QB Matt Zollers committed to Missouri in April. DE Zahir Mathis committed to Ohio State in January and Penn State football legacy target Michael Carroll committed to Alabama in June.
Andrew Olesh also appears to be trending away from Happy Valley. On June 23, Steve Wiltfong and EJ Holland of On3 both placed RPM predictions for the four-star tight end to land at Michigan. They aren’t the only recruiting experts that are leaning this way, as Tom Loy, Steve Lorenz, and Sam Webb of 247Sports also believe the Wolverines are the team to beat for Olesh.
Can Penn State make one final push? We will find out tomorrow when Olesh makes his commitment official at 6 pm.
