Penn State football to host No. 1 QB in PA in final recruiting push

The No. 1 player and top QB in PA in the 2025 cycle has set up a return visit to Happy Valley this month. Could this be the last chance James Franklin and Penn State football have to make their case for one of the nation’s top QBs?

The Penn State football coaching staff knows they are running out of time with quarterback Matt Zollers. A member of the 2025 recruiting class, Zollers has been a priority target for many months. While Penn State already has Bekkem Kritza committed in 2025, the Nittany Lions are looking to add two quarterbacks in this cycle, and Zollers would be the perfect fit. The problem is that Penn State needs to fend off three other schools that are pursuing the 2025 QB. Those schools include Georgia, Missouri, and Pittsburgh. Now, the Nittany Lions will get another chance to meet with Zollers at the end of March during an unofficial visit.

Matt Zollers is a four-star prospect from Royersford, PA, in the 2025 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, Zollers is the No. 1 player and No. 1 QB in Pennsylvania in this cycle. He has continued to grow in notoriety throughout his recruiting journey. Zollers sits as the No. 6 QB in the country in 2025.

Now, it has been reported by Adam Friedman of Rivals that Matt Zollers plans to visit the Penn State football team on March 29th. This might be one of the last chances Penn State will get to make a lasting impression on Zollers, as he should set a commitment date shortly. In a series of unofficial visits, he will also return to Missouri on March 20th, Pittsburgh on March 28th, and Georgia on April 2nd.

Messiah Mickens continues to pick up offers

Looking ahead to the 2026 recruiting class, Penn State has a lone commitment in Messiah Mickens. However, he might be one of the most important commitments in that class when it’s all said and done. The issue with Mickens is that several schools have knocked on the door recently, offering him a scholarship. The latest schools include Wisconsin. Notre Dame, and now Oregon.

If the Penn State football team wants to keep Mickens committed to their recruiting class, the Nittany Lions will have to work hard to prove the value.
