Christmas came a day early for James Franklin and Penn State football, as the Nittany Lions picked up a second commitment from a transfer portal wide receiver in as many weeks. On Tuesday, former Troy standout Devonte Ross made his pledge to the Nittany Lions.

Ross announced his decision via Instagram Tuesday morning. The junior is coming off a prolific year where he caught 76 passes for 1,043 yards for the Trojans. Ross hauled in 11 touchdown receptions, which was the fifth most in the country at the end of the regular season.

He was the only player in the Sun Belt to make the all-conference team at three different positions, earning first-team honors as a receiver and as an all-purpose player and second team as a return specialist. Over the last two seasons at Troy, Ross has over 600 yards as a kick and punt returner.

Ross becomes the second portal pickup for Penn State football at the receiver position, after ex-USC pass catcher Kyron Hudson committed to the Nittany Lions on December 16. Former Texas A&M edge rusher Enai White committed to James Franklin and the Nittany Lions on Friday.
