The countdown to kickoff is on in Madison, with a little under two hours until Penn State football takes on the Wisconsin Badgers under the lights at Camp Randall Stadium. Off a week of rest and two weeks removed from a walk-off overtime win at USC, the Nittany Lions will look to remain perfect and stay atop the Big Ten standings and national polls.

The grind of the year starting to take its toll, the midseason bye afforded the Nittany Lions a chance to bounce back from a health perspective. That recovery is reflected in the relatively short injury list the program just put out for Saturday night’s matchup compared to previous weeks.

Penn State football players listed as out on the Big Ten’s mandated availability report:

  • KJ Winston, Safety
  • Kaden Saunders, WR
  • Quinton Martin Jr., RB
  • Cam Wallace, RB
  • Keon Wylie, LB
  • Zuriah Fisher, DE
  • Mehki Flowers, WR
  • Jake Spencer, WR
  • Andrew Rappleyea, TE

“I think, for the most part, we’re in pretty good position,” James Franklin said of the Nittany Lions’ injury situation on Wednesday. “We’ve had some of that, kind of, throughout the season. We kind of had an initial wave of issues. Kind of got through it, and from that point on, I think we’ve been in pretty good shape.”

Notably, Penn State hopes to see the return of a healthy Nicholas Singleton on Saturday after the star running back has spent most of October on the mend. Singleton did not play against UCLA on October 5 and then recorded 87 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown on 15 touches against the Trojans.

The Nittany Lions will need to have both Singleton and Kaytron Allen at full health, with the No. 3 and No. 4 running backs Quinton Martin and Cam Wallace both out on Saturday. The Badgers have the No. 61 rushing defense nationally, but tout the No. 7 passing defense in the FBS.

Saturday night’s primetime showdown with Wisconsin is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on NBC’s Big Ten Saturday Night.
