The deadline to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft is looming. But Nicholas Singleton has other matters to attend to first. Speaking to the media ahead of Thursday’s Orange Bowl, the star running back says he is focused on finishing what he started with Penn State football this season before thinking about his future.

“I haven’t made a decision yet,” Singleton said this weekend. “I’m still worried about finishing this season off the right way. We got a chance to do something that we haven’t done in a while: competing for a National Championship.

“So, right now, [I’m going to] just focus on that. And at the end of the season, I’ll make a decision.”

Last week, ESPN personality Pat McAfee claimed that both Singleton and Kaytron Allen are looking to return to State College in 2025. Like his teammate, Allen has also not provided a definitive answer on his plans regarding next fall.

The deadline to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft is January 15, six days after the Nittany Lions’ College Football Playoff Semifinal matchup with Notre Dame. However, if Penn State football wins Thursday’s Orange Bowl and advances to the National Championship, the NFL has established an extension to January 24 exclusively for players on the two teams participating in the January 20 title game.

Hamstrung by injury through the middle portion of the year, Singleton is still on pace to have his most productive season as a Nittany Lion. The junior passed the 1,000-yard mark for the second time in his career during the Fiesta Bowl. With 24 total touchdowns coming into 2024, Singleton has found the end zone 14 times this fall.

Singleton and Allen will have an opportunity to showcase their talents on the national stage this week against the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame comes into the Orange Bowl ranked No. 34 against the rush, allowing 128 yards per game this season. However, the Irish front has stepped up during this postseason run, allowing just 62.5 yards per outing during the College Football Playoff.

Kickoff from South Beach is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.
