Penn State football added commitment No. 21 to its 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday, picking up a pledge from four-star Triton (MN) athlete Pierce Petersohn. The 6-5, 190-pound Petersohn is expected to play tight end in Happy Valley, and already is garnering comparisons to former record-setting Nittany Lions tight end Tyler Warren.
The comparison primarily stems from the new Nittany Lion’s freakish athletic skillset. Also like Warren, Petersohn will transition out of his high school quarterback role upon signing with Penn State. As a junior, he threw for 1,479 yards and 17 touchdowns, while running for 382 yards and nine touchdowns.
A three-sport athlete, Petersohn averaged 29 points and 13 rebounds per game on the basketball court and ran an 11.24-second 100-meter dash last year.
Petersohn is ranked as the No. 8 athlete and the No. 201 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to On3.
With Andrew Rappleyea and Luke Reynolds expected to take over the mantle at tight end in the near future, Petersohn will have time to learn his new position before he looks to fill Warren’s Swiss Army knife role for the Nittany Lions offense.
“I am impressed with the coaching staff and the vision they have for me,” he told On3’s Steve Wiltfong following the commitment.
Penn State has the No. 8 class nationally per 247Sports.
