This weekend kicks off several key recruiting weekends for the Penn State football team. The Nittany Lions are currently hosting some of the top uncommitted talent in the 2025 recruiting class. But those are the only prospects on campus this weekend. Currently, Penn State commits Bekkem Kritza and Lyrick Samuel have returned to help recruit other top talent to Happy Valley.
Future Penn State football QB & WR return to recruit other targets
Bekkem Kritza is a 6-5 three-star quarterback commit in the Penn State football team’s 2025 recruiting class. The lanky gunslinger made his commitment to the Nittany Lions on November 14, 2023. His commitment was surrounded by the story of Kritza potentially knowing about the hiring of Mike Yurcich before it happened. However, this was later clarified by James Franklin as a misunderstanding.
Now, Kritza has transferred from Fairview High School in Colorado to Miami Central in Flordia where he will team up with fellow Penn State commit KeAndrea Barker for the 2024 season. Rivals have confirmed that Kritza is back on campus this weekend with future teammate Lyrick Samuel.
Lyrick Samuel is a rising star
Rivals also confirmed that 2025 recruiting class, Penn State football commit Lyrick Samuel has also returned to Happy Valley. As the QB and WR duo attempt to recruit additional prospects to join them in State College.
Samuel is a four-star wide receiver and currently ranks as the No.1 player in New York according to On3. He and Kritza recently shared the field at the All 22 /Elite 11 regional in State College a few weeks ago. As an emerging wide receiver, Samuel has earned praise from Charles Powers who serves as the Director of Scouting for On3.
“Lyrick Samuel has a lot of things going for him the more I learn about him. First off, he should be a 2026 guy, age-wise. He’s extremely young. So, when you look at his development, it totally makes sense. This guy is 16 years old and he’s getting better and better at a rate that’s probably a little faster than some of the other receivers that we’ve known about for a while.”
