The 2025 college football season is fast approaching. But Tuesday, the focus was on the virtual gridiron with the cover release for EA Sports College Football 26. Penn State football will have a prominent place in this year’s version of the popular video game, with Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin and star running back Nicholas Singleton appearing front and center on the deluxe edition cover.
News of Franklin and Singleton’s appearance on the cover was first reported in March. Shot at the historic Rose Bowl, Singleton appears in the front row alongside Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams and Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith, the two primary cover athletes for this year’s game, as well as Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
Franklin is one of seven coaches prominently featured, along with the Buckeyes’ Ryan Day, the Irish’s Marcus Freeman, Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, and Oregon’s Dan Lanning. EA Sports states that the likeness of real coaches will be included in this year’s game. That was not the case in College Football 25, which was the best-selling sports game in U.S. history.
Franklin, Singleton begin promoting College Football 26
Along with serving as cover personalities on College Football 26, it also appears that Singleton and Franklin will play notable roles in promoting the game.
Both Nittany Lions took to social media Tuesday following the cover release.
“We Are – on the cover,” Singleton wrote on X.
“This one’s for Happy Valley,” said Franklin. The video posted along with Franklin’s tweet showed the 12th-year Penn State coach repeating EA Sports’ popular tagline, “It’s in the game.”
EA Sports College Football 26 is expected to be released on July 10.
