The Penn State football team is ramping up for a strong summer in recruiting. Several of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class are scheduled to take their official visit over the next few months. Now, ahead of a busy summer for one of the top defensive backs in the 2025 cycle, Jahmir Joseph has closed his recruiting down to five schools. On3 has the Nittany Lions in the driver’s seat for Joseph who is currently the No. 1 defensive back in New Jersey.
Penn State football is closing in on the No. 1 DB in New Jersey
Jahmir Joseph is a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. According to On3, Joseph is a native of Montvale, New Jersey where he is the No. 4 player in the state and the 21st-ranked cornerback in the 2025 cycle. He also is the No. 1 defensive back in New Jersey.
On3 has the Penn State football team leading the recruiting battle for Joseph. The Nittany Lions have a 38% chance to land the talented DB. On Friday, Adam Friedman of Rivals announced that the star defender is down to five schools, including, Notre Dame, Stanford, Georiga, South Carolina, and Penn State.
Nittany Lions lead the way in visits
While Penn State will compete with some of the top programs in the country for Jahmir Joseph, they currently lead the way in visits taken. According to On3’s visit tracker, he has been to Happy Valley three times. But he will have the opportunity to travel the country with his upcoming official visit slate.
Joseph will start his official visits at Stanford on May 30th, and then head to Notre Dame on June 7th. The following week he will return to Penn State for his official visit with the Nittany Lions. Finally, he wraps things up with his visit to South Carolina on June 21st. It’s important to note he has not visited Stanford and Notre Dame before his official visits, so momentum could shift depending on the impression each school makes.
