With spring practice in the rearview mirror, Penn State football officially shifts its focus to the 2025 season. There are four months between now and when the Nittany Lions take the field on August 30 against Nevada. But for Drew Allar and the Penn State receiver room, there isn’t a moment to lose.
“This is a huge time of year for us as our offense, especially skill-wise,” Allar said following last week’s Blue-White Game. “This is the time where we installed all this stuff that we did throughout spring, and now we can, again, peel it back, watch it, and then go out and run it.
“So, we have a ton of time to really get better at this because obviously [we have] summer classes and summer workouts, but we’ll be able to spend a lot of time together throwing, and we already have that stuff mapped out with the strength staff. So we’re making it as efficient as possible and also getting the most work out of it as we can.”

Wide receiver has been the central point of criticism for the Nittany Lion offense over the last 24 months. James Franklin and the Penn State coaching staff have taken considerable steps to address the concern this offseason, landing portal additions Kyron Hudson, Devonte Ross, and Trebor Pena.
With a healthy mix of veteran pass catchers and young talent looking to breakout, Allar and the Nittany Lion receivers are excited to solidify the chemistry that will be a critical component of any championship run in 2025.
“The receivers have taken a huge step forward for us this spring. I think that room has taken a lot of improvements,” said Allar. “We have a lot of old guys in that room now, and they’ve taken the next step in their progressions. And you saw it today. We have a lot of exciting youth in that room. So that room has really taken a step forward, and it’s going to be a good summer for them, and I know they’re ready to work.”
