The Penn State football team made the most of the Lasch Bash weekend. When they were able to host several prospects who were either committed to the Nittany Lions or considering Penn State. Since last weekend’s event, there have been six total commitments for Penn State coming in the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting classes. Now, after the addition of Lavar Keys, they currently hold the No. 1 2026 recruiting class in the country.
James Franklin and his Penn State football coaching staff have two goals in mind on the recruiting trail. Keep the top talent from Pennsylvania in the state and committed to the Nittany Lions, and acquire as much blue-chip talent as possible. In the 2026 recruiting class, they are off to a great start for both of those goals.
With 6 verbal commits in the cycle, according to 247Sports the Nittany Lions now hold the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for 2026. Kevin Brown leads the way and he ranks as the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania. Brown’s high school teammates RB Messiah Mickens, QB Troy Huhn, and DE Daniel Jennings are all blue-chip prospects in the cycle for Penn State.
While wide receivers Jashsiear Rogers and the latest addition Lavar Keys hold a load of potential to increase their three-star ranking in the future.

On Friday, the Penn State football team gained two new prospects. The first addition to the 2027 recruiting class is running back Kemon Spell from McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
Later in the afternoon they also landed 2026 recruiting class wide receiver Lavar Keys.
Keys is a three-star wide receiver prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. On3 is the only recruiting site that has ranked Keys at this time. They regard him as the No. 9 player in Maryland and the No. 102 WR in the cycle.
Keys held offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, and East Carolina, and has recently earned a scholarship from Penn State. That scholarship offer was given to him after his most recent visit to Happy Valley on July 27. On Friday, he decided to make his commitment to the Nittany Lions.
