Former Penn State football placekicker Chase Meyer appears to be returning to the West Coast out of the transfer portal. On Thursday, the redshirt junior specialist indicated his intention to transfer to ACC newcomer Cal.

Meyer announced his visit to Berkeley on Wednesday. He then followed up with a creative use of emojis on social media, seemingly locking in his status with the Bears. Meyer is a native of Los Angeles, so the move would allow him to return closer to home.

The ex-Nittany Lion entered the transfer portal for the third time in his career on April 24. In 2023, Meyer was a third-team All-AAC selection at Tulsa, going 17-20 on field goal attempts. He started his college career at Penn, where he handled kickoff duties.

After transferring to Happy Valley, Meyer was named to the Lou Groza Award watch list last summer. He did not appear in game action during his one season with Penn State football.

Meyer was the final member of the Penn State football program to enter the transfer portal during the spring window. Five of the six Nittany Lions who entered the portal this spring have now landed at power conference programs.

As the Nittany Lions wrapped up spring practice last Saturday, sixth-year offensive lineman JB Nelson committed to Kansas State.
