The Penn State football team saw a max exodus of players leave the program this offseason via the transfer portal. However, one of the players who left the Nittany Lions roster just a few months ago was Carmelo Taylor. Instead, Taylor was removed from the Penn State roster and has since joined Lackawanna Community College. Now, he has picked up his first offer from former PSU OC and current Akron head coach Joe Moorhead.

On May 3, it was reported that the Penn State football team had lost another scholarship wide receiver, Carmelo Taylor. This was just days after the Nittany Lions saw Malick Meiga and Malik McClain decided to enter the transfer portal.

While Taylor’s departure was unexpected, he landed at Lackawanna Community College. A junior college that many Nittany Lions have attended. He has played well this season, accounting for eight catches for 195 yards and four touchdowns in four games.

On Tuesday, he announced on Twitter /X that he has picked up his first scholarship offer since leaving Penn State from Joe Moorhead and the Akron Zips.

Carmelo Taylor was the first wide receiver recruited and secured by wide receivers coach Marques Hagans in the 2023 recruiting class. As a high school prospect, Carmelo Taylor was a four-star prospect who ranked as the No. 7 player in Virginia and the No. 43 wide receiver in the country.

As he continues his JUCO journey he will likely continue to stack Division I offers, but he has the opportunity to connect with someone who knows Happy Valley well if he chooses to join Moorhead at Akron.
