On Wednesday the UFL hosted its 2024 UFL College Draft. The league was formed in March of 2024 when the XFL merged with the USFL both leagues were designed to play football in the spring. With a common goal in mind, giving players exposure for the next opportunity in the NFL. During the draft on Wednesday, former Penn State football linebacker Curtis Jacobs was selected. The ex-Nittany Lion was taken by the DC Defenders with their 8th pick of the day.
What makes the UFL College Draft exciting is the risk that’s involved. Many teams are banking on the possibility that the players they select do not make an NFL roster this summer. Then, if a player wants another shot at making an NFL roster they can join the UFL to gain additional exposure.
Curtis Jacobs will first get his shot in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, if he misses out on the 53-man roster, he has a chance to continue his football career in the UFL playing for the DC Defenders who selected him in the 2024 UFL College Draft.
What about Jacob’s NFL aspirations?

One of the biggest surprises of the NFL Draft in April was Curtis Jacobs not getting his name called. The former five-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, it didn’t take long for him to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jacobs will get his shot at making the roster for the defending Super Bowl Champs this summer. But for whatever reason, if that doesn’t work out he will still have a UFL career to look forward to.
During his Penn State football career, Jacobs accounted for 170 tackles including 24 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.
