Penn State football has experienced early success in the 2027 recruiting cycle. But this weekend, the Nittany Lions appear to be losing ground with one of their top targets at the most important position on the field.Â
On Saturday morning, Rivals/On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for Tabor Academy (MA) quarterback Peter Bourque to commit to Michigan. A four-star, Bourque is the No. 7 quarterback in the class and No. 86 prospect in Rivals’ 2027 class rankings.Â
The development is particularly disappointing for Penn State, given where the program stood with Bourque coming into the summer. In May, 247Sports placed a crystal ball for the 6-4, 195-pound passer to join the Nittany Lions. As of Sunday morning, that crystal ball still stands.Â
As a sophomore, Bourque threw for 1,737 yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He made his seventh stop in Happy Valley in June, along with visits to Michigan, Ohio State, and Georgia.Â
Penn State currently has the No. 2 class in the country, with three commitments from top-40 prospects.Â
