The countdown for kickoff continues for Penn State football. We are officially 92 days away from the season opener at West Virginia. But the Nittany Lion faithful aren’t the only ones looking ahead to the 2024 season. The oddsmakers at DraftKings have also scoped out several early lines against West Virginia, Ohio State, USC, and Wisconsin. While Las Vegas currently slots the Nittany Lions as early home underdogs against the rival Buckeyes, the oddsmakers do like chances of James Franklin and Penn State securing wins in the two other pivotal Big Ten road matchups.
Early betting odds released for multiple Penn State football games
James Franklin will lead the Penn State football team into Morgantown, West Virginia week 1 of the 2024 season, in a highly anticipated matchup with the kickoff time announced on Thursday. The Nittany Lions will face the Mountaineers on August 31 where the two historic programs will be part of Big Noon Saturday on FOX. Penn State opens as a -10 favorite according to DraftKings on the road.
The next line that DraftKings has in regards to the Nittany Lions is on October 12. That is when Penn State will travel to Southern California to face USC. Although a kickoff time has yet to be announced, Penn State is a -4 favorite in this matchup against the Trojans. This will be the first-ever meeting as a Big Ten conference game for the two schools.
Lions are early dogs vs Ohio State; nearly touchdown favorites over Badgers
The Nittany Lions will also hit the road to face Wisconsin at the end of October. With this matchup taking place on October 26. This will serve as the first trip since the 2021 home opener which Penn State held on late in Camp Randall. Now, they will once again face the Badgers on the road. Penn State is a -6.5 favorite in an early line for this matchup.
Finally, DraftKings has that at home the Nittany Lions are +3 home underdogs in its matchup against Ohio State. The Buckeyes will travel to Happy Valley for the first time since 2022. This game is slated for November 2 which will likely be one of the biggest games for Penn State and the college football season in 2024.
