The newest members of the 2024 Penn State football roster are settling into Happy Valley. On Monday, the Nittany Lions announced the arrival of three more incoming freshmen: four-star running back Corey Smith, four-star safety Dejuan Lane, and three-star offensive lineman Donovan Harbour. With these three additions, Penn State’s 2024 signing class is now almost completely enrolled and on campus.
Penn State football adds three incoming freshmen to roster
The Nittany Lions grew their roster by three over the weekend, adding incoming freshmen Corey Smith and Donovan Harbour on offense and Dejuan Lane on defense.
Slightly overshadowed by his backfield companion Quinton Martin in the 2024 cycle, Waukesha (Wisconsin) Corey Smith brings a dynamic skillset of his own to Penn State football. Smith made headlines as a junior when he clocked the fastest in-game speed ever recorded in high school football at 22.8 mph.
The No. 3 prospect out of Wisconsin per 247Sports, Smith battled injuries throughout his senior season, but still had 42 touchdowns over the last two years.
Smith’s Waukesha teammate, offensive lineman Donovan Harbour, also arrived in Happy Valley over the weekend. Originally a four-star, most major recruiting services had Harbour rated as a three-star prospect by signing day.
However, the 6-3, 320-pound interior offensive lineman is still rated as a four-star by ESPN and, as a result, maintains four-star status on the 247Sports Composite. Harbour is 247Sports’ No. 6 player in Wisconsin.
On the other side of the ball, the Nittany Lions also welcomed blue chip safety Dejuan Lane to campus. Labeled as both a linebacker and a defensive back early in his recruitment, most outlets have now evaluated Lane as a safety at the next level. The Gilman product was the No. 31 safety in the 2024 class and the No. 11 prospect out of Maryland.
Who from the 2024 class is left to enroll?
With the additions of Corey Smith, Donovan Harbour, and Dejuan Lane, the Nittany Lions’ 2024 roster is just about finalized.
Penn State football has two final pieces from its 2024 recruiting class yet to add: three-star wide receiver Tyseer Denmark and three-star cornerback Kenny Woseley. Teammates at Imhotep Charter, the duo are expected to enroll later this month.
The Nittany Lions signed the No. 15 class in the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports. This puts Penn State at third in the Big Ten behind Oregon and Ohio State.
