As the Penn State football team continues to push towards the season open at West Virginia, high school prospects across the country have or are about to kick off their season. For the 2025 recruiting class members, this is the final season they will lace up their high school cleats. Nittany Lion commit Daryus Dixson made sure from his opening game on Thursday night that he would start his final season strong.

Daryus Dixson and his commitment to the 2025 recruiting class and the Penn State football team went under the radar. Perhaps it is due to the face that Dixson committed the same day as legacy prospect Michael Carroll made his pledge to Alabama. Either way, Dixson attends Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana (California).

Mater Dei is considered the No. 1 ranked high school in 2024 according to On3. On Thursday evening they took on the No. 12 ranked high school Centennial.

It didn’t take long for Dixson to make a splash play. Chad Simmons of On3 shared on Twitter / X the first interception of the season for the Nittany Lion commit. Dixson made his commitment to Penn State on June 10 and holds a four-star rating according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Dixson’s play on the field wasn’t the only big news for the Penn State football team. 2026 recruiting class member and elite running back prospect Savion Hiter narrowed down his college choices to five schools he shared with Hayes Fawcett of On3 on Thursday evening.

Hiter included Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia, Ohio State, and Penn State.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Hiter is the No. 1 player in Virginia and the No. 2 RB in the 2026 class (No. 29 nationally).
