On a wild weekend of college football, Penn State football was considered lucky compared to other teams around the country. It’s one thing to nearly be upset by an inferior team, it’s another to lose the game completely. After narrowly escaping an upset with a 34-27 victory over the Falcons of Bowling Green, the Nittany Lions have maintained in the AP Poll.

It could be worse waking up and being a Penn State football fan today. For example, you could be a Notre Dame fan. The Irish were also tested at home by a MAC team. Except in their case, the Northern Illinois Huskies pulled off the unthinkable Saturday. They marched into South Bend and beat the Fighting Irish 16-14. The former No. 5 ranked Fighting Irish have dropped in the latest edition of the AP Poll. Last week, Penn State held the No. 8 ranking, and now after defeating Bowling Green they have maintained No. 8 ranking in the AP Poll.

On Sunday afternoon, the updated top 25 teams were released.
