The Penn State football team faced a power-four opponent in week one that featured many FBS versus FCS matchups. The Nittany Lions went on the road and handled West Virginia 34-12. On Tuesday the latest edition of the AP Poll was released which held Penn State as the No. 8 school in the country. But according to CBS Sports analyst Josh Pate, the Nittany Lions are the No. 5 team in the country in his JP Poll.
The JP Poll that Josh Pate releases each week is different than the average power rankings that other national sites release. Instead, the JP is about ‘future-facing neutral field favorability’ as Pate describes his rankings. After a strong outing in week one, he has moved the Nittany Lions to No. 5 in the country.
Penn State football sits behind Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, and Alabama. While they’re ahead of Miami, Oregon, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss.
