BREAKING: Penn State football nearly falls out of top 10 in AP Poll

The Penn State football team has fallen in the AP Poll after its bye week. Who leaped in front of the Nittany Lions?

The Penn State football team did not have to play this past weekend, as they were off for its bye week. However, the rest of the college football world continued to push forward. Top schools struggled while middle-of-the-pack teams won ranked matchups. Both directly impacted the latest AP Poll ranking and the Nittany Lions just learned where they are at this week ahead of its matchup against Kent State.

James Franklin and the Penn State football team took the week to recharge and watch the film. Franklin also was seen hitting the recruiting trail, visiting Michael Carroll at IMG Academy. Around the country the No.1 team in the country, the Georgia Bulldogs struggled against Kentucky, sneaking out with a close victory.

Teams such as Missouri took care of a ranked Boston College team. Kansas State also made a statement win on Friday night over Arizona. Now, that the latest AP Poll has been released, let’s see how the voters evaluated the events of Saturday. While the Nittany Lions were off, they fell two spots from No. 8 to No. 10 in the AP Poll.

Kent State suffers crushing loss to Tennessee

The next opponent for the Nittany Lions is the Kent State Golden Flashes who did not have a bye week this week. Instead, the Golden Flashes took a trip to Tennessee to take on the Volunteers where they struggled.

Kent State was down 65-0 at halftime and went on to lose 71-0. This Saturday they will make the trip to Happy Valley to take on the Penn State football team at 3:30 pm ET on BTN.
