When it rains it pours on the recruiting trail. The Penn State football team has struck fire over the past few weeks and more specifically over the past 24 hours. The Nittany Lions have landed their second-weekend commitment on Sunday morning. 2025 recruiting class athlete Braswell Thomas has made his pledge to Penn State.

Braswell Thomas is a three-star prospect from Cape May (New Jersey). After wrapping up his official visit that started on June 21, Thomas decided to play for James Franklin and the Penn State football team according to Rivals. A dynamic athlete who has experience playing on both sides of the ball.

On3 lists Thomas as a safety but he also has experience playing wide receiver as well. Thomas ranks as a top-25 prospect in New Jersey. He chose Penn State over Nebraska and Syracuse.

With the addition of Braswell Thomas, the Penn State football football team now sits at 17 hard commits in the 2025 recruiting class.

Over the past few weeks, the Nittany Lions’ defensive recruiting has excelled under cornerbacks coach Terry Smith, who has added three talented prospects to the secondary.

Mater Dei (California) corner Daryus Dixson made his pledge on June 10. A week later, Montvale (New Jersey) native Jahmir Joseph made his commitment. On Wednesday, Antonio Branch from Miami (Florida) made his decision official to play for the Nittany Lions. On Saturday night it was Jabree Wallace-Coleman who made his pledge to Penn State. All four players carry a four-star ranking.

Ahead of Thomas’s commitment, Penn State held the No. 12 ranked 2025 class in the country, according to On3. They continue to hold this position with the addition of Thomas.
